Our Programs

  • After School Programs

    We offer two afterschool programs: one at Wesley Center for 150 K-5th grade students, running Monday-Thursday from 2:30-6:30, focused on academic enrichment, STEM, and arts through a culturally relevant, project-based approach. The other, at Jeron X Grayson Community Center, serves 100 students in grades 6-12, operating Monday-Thursday from 3:00-6:30, with a focus on academics, career development, leadership, and STEM education.

    Goals: Improve academic performance, foster creativity, and provide a safe space while preparing teens for higher education, careers, and leadership roles.

    Outcomes: Increased academic success, STEM interest, cultural awareness, college enrollment, job readiness, and leadership skills.

  • Summer Programs

    Involves 200 students from K-8th grades in a seven-week summer program offering immersive cultural and arts experiences, complemented by educational field trips. This program fosters creative exploration and cultural appreciation, providing students with enriching opportunities for hands-on learning and personal growth throughout the summer.

    Goals: Offer enriching summer experiences that promote personal growth, creativity, and a deeper understanding of diverse cultures.

    Outcomes: Heightened participation in artistic endeavors and expanded perspectives through immersive cultural excursions and educational field trips.

  • Signature Programs

    YouthVoices: This program cultivates youth leadership and community activism by engaging participants in impactful projects, meaningful dialogues, and hands-on service experiences that empower them to become proactive change-makers in their communities.

    STEM Education: This initiative is dedicated to delivering high-quality STEM learning experiences aimed at addressing and reducing disparities in access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education, thereby fostering equity in these vital fields.

    Career Ecosystem: This program seeks to enhance economic mobility for first-generation African American students by providing them with the resources, guidance, and opportunities necessary to navigate and succeed in their career paths.

    Pearls & Chucks: This initiative aims to strengthen the leadership capabilities of young women while connecting them with mentors who can offer support, guidance, and encouragement as they pursue their personal and professional aspirations.

  • STEM Center

    Investigating the creation of an engaging interactive STEM resource that centers on providing innovative and accessible learning tools and educational models specifically designed for African American families. This initiative aims to enhance educational opportunities and foster a deeper understanding of STEM subjects within these communities.

    Goals: Tackle the inequities in access to STEM education resources and opportunities.

    Outcomes: Enhanced engagement in STEM disciplines and expanded learning opportunities for underserved populations.
