Our Story

The Center That CARES was born from a vision to not just witness change, but to weave transformation into the fabric of our organization.

We’re striving to address the root causes of inequities through comprehensive generational community support.

CARES is a pathway to thriving life outcomes in an environment that nurtures every individual's potential. It stands as a beacon of hope and light to those we serve.

History & Mission

The Center that CARES is a dynamic, community-focused organization dedicated to addressing the root causes of inequities within the community through responsive and generational support. Serving as an epicenter of social impact, it offers comprehensive services across key areas such as housing, workforce development, violence prevention, and educational opportunities.

Our after-school programming enhances student capacity through a range of activities, including homework assistance and electives like Karate, Poetry/Creative Writing, and Khan Academy, along with cultural exposure and travel opportunities. As a result, 80% of students will learn the importance of homework help, regular attendance, and seeking academic support. We anticipate that 75% of students will improve their attendance rates and earn incentives, while 80% will maintain or improve their grades and attend school 90% of the time.

Additionally, 70% of participants will attend at least 75% of the program days. On the career front, 10% of high school students will secure internships related to their fields of interest, and 15% will have the chance to job shadow professionals in various careers. Finally, 50% of participating youth will broaden their understanding of career options, paving the way for future success.

Our Impact

Our mission is to create a network of innovative and responsive opportunities that empower individuals and families, fostering thriving life outcomes in a nurturing environment. We not only respond to immediate community needs but also build sustainable solutions that support and elevate residents across generations, reinforcing our commitment to transforming lives and strengthening communities.
