20th Anniversary Celebration

Last month, CARES celebrated 20 years of service in the Hill District. We held a banquet where students, families, and members of the community were invited to reflect on the work we’ve done the past 20 years, while also looking forward to the work we still have to do. The banquet was full of good food, great live music from the Funky Fly Project, and wonderful student performances such as spoken word poetry and dances. We all had a good time that evening celebrating the CARES mission, and we thank everyone who helped bring the night together!

Lyft Grocery Access Program

Lyft has partnered with 412 Food Rescue, grocery stores, and local public housing to work towards making healthy food more accessible to Pittsburgh residents. Eligible participants will receive $5 rides to and from Giant Eagle. Families will receive 25 coupons until January 31st. To find out if you’re eligible and to find out more information about this program visit the website  https://www.lyft.com/city/grocery-access/pittsburgh-pa.

CARES Partners with Lights on Afterschool

On October 24th, Lights on Afterschool partnered with the Center that CARES to celebrate all the work after school programs do for their community. CARES students participated in Arts & Crafts that emphasized the global community such as decorating carnival masks and pumpkins. Students loved all the different activities they did, and we at CARES loved all the fun they had!

CARES has done it AGAIN!!!

Penguins Grant Supported_By_PPF_Primary_Gold_Transparent (1)

Thanks to diligent work of Rev. Grayson and the CARES grant writers The Pittsburgh Penguins have graciously recognized the outstanding work that CARES does for the youth in it’s community.  In realizing the time, effort and most detrimentally the cost it takes to maintain an after school enrichment program, The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation awarded the Center That CARES with a $10, 000 to help assist in the continued excellence that CARES provides to its youth.
